Presentation
(a resume of structure of this newletter is posted here)
I am happy to launch this little Newsletter on Cultural Tourism after years of working in Cultural Heritage from academia (more than 20 years) and Tourism as a qualified guide at the National Museum of Anthropology in México City in association with Turisctic operators for five years.
Altough I have to say, when I was bachelor I got my first acreditation as bilingual Touristic guide ;-)
Now that I have one foot in México and another in the Czech Republic, it's the best moment to work on disseminating the Cultural Tourism and Cultural Heritage project.
Rest assured, my extensive scientific, academic, and tourist experience equips me to provide recommendations of places, people, and services with unparalleled quality and reliability, but overall, unique from a human and cultural point of view
As an Anthropologist and Archaeologist, I hate the artificiality and superficiality of massive tourism focused on consumption.
As a Mexican and human being, I'm glad to share the amazing work and stories of people going behind Cultural Heritage and monuments.
So, this small newsletter is a brief, free digital publication focused on presenting interesting and authentic projects of local people in cultural and communitary tourism.
It will be released every fifteen days. I hope to see you here whenever you like and be.
Now, Let’s Now let's check the structure of the publication: two fixed sections and one variable:
Section 1. The People Behind of Culture refers to a specialist or founder behind a project, a piece, a collection, a civil association, or a cause.
Only on this occasion will I talk about myself and my projects. I will introduce myself and describe the causes that moved me to work with culture and cultural heritage.
Section 2. The Reading of Week (Maximum 8 min of reading time). A short reading about any interesting aspect of Mexican Archaeology, History, traditions, or travel tips related to my country, Mexico.
For this I will leave you a free link that will redirect you to the complete publication on the Medium platform.
Right now, I present a brief guide to take advantage of the historical and bibliographical sources on the Conquest of Mexico with basic bibliography included.
Section 3. The Tianguis is a miscellaneous section. As its name says in clear Mexican, it is a traveling section that can have everything. In Mexico, a tianguis is a mobile market where you can find everything! Absolutely everything!
In this case, it can be the reply to a question from the audience about something related to a piece, collection, theme, specialization, place, etc., or introduce to you the native music of México or any explanation of Mexicanisms, or anything! I accept suggestions! ;-)
At this time, We only have the two first sections :-)
SECTION 1: The People behind of Culture
Mexico Unearthed and Guadalupe Zetina Gutiérrez.
I am Mexican, and I am proud of my Mesoamerican roots. For more than twenty years, I have served the culture in my country as an archaeologist and anthropologist, working on projects, dissemination tables, workshops for children, talks, conferences, publishing articles, and some book chapters, and as a professor of archaeology, among other things.

Also, you can follow my Instagram (my very personal social network) and my "X" which frankly is a hybrid between a personal and a social network to “Mexico Unearthed” ;-)

I want to contribute to disseminating Mexican culture worldwide and support the specialists and founders behind the Mexican Cultural Heritage, with these two projects:
Side A, Mexico Unearthed (The Newsletter) . It was born as my cultural tourism project in the National Museum Of Anthropology in México City from 2017 to 2022, focused especially on foreign audiences. As a part of this project, between 2020 and 2021, we had a website to offer different cultural tourism tours and digital cultural services in Mexico City.
As an archaeologist and anthropologist with experience in the tourism sector and education, I created this alternative for the intelligent traveler and lovers of Mexican culture who are not satisfied with the superficiality of traditional tourism based on consumption.
It is important to highlight that Culture (as the varied expression of a society) is not an elitist hobby as it has been branded lately in my country, but a necessity that is part of its human nature.
Side B, the Intercontinental Association for Mexican Cultural Heritage (AIPCM A.C.), by its Spanish acronym), is a non-profit organization whose vocation is to support and encourage the continuous professional growth of specialists (professional or not) of Mexican cultural heritage and to disseminate their work to the world.
Likewise, this organization receives donations in kind for academics, scientists, founders, authors or creators of cultural projects or in relation to cultural or community tourism within Mexico.
We were legally incorporated in 2019 and began operations in early 2020. Due to the pandemic, we suspended activities that same year due to lack of funds and human capital to operate.
We are now in the process of reconstituting and reactivating 100%, being México Unearthed one the most important tool.
The same cause and two ways to operate. They are two faces of the same coin.

SECTION 2. The Reading.
How to “squeeze” the texts of the Conquest of Mexico (With Bibliography Included)
The written documents of yesterday and today are treasures full of different sources of information.
Any document, from chronicles reporting on a king to gossip posts on any social network, leaves essential clues about its authors and its times for those who know how to read it.
We can develop a simple system to read between the lines of all the information its authors inadvertently left behind and help us unmask their true intentions.
Remember that there is no writing yesterday, today, or tomorrow that is neutral or completely objective.
To read it free in full, go to Medium and follow me!
A big hug and have a “chingón” day
Thanks for subscribing
